Red Global de Aprendizajes

-The NPDL implementation for Uruguay-

As co-leader of the Red Global we faced the challenge to create a sustainable community of knowledge, that generated new ways of practice, arousing from the interaction of new pedagogies and technology. It´s impact will be measured by the progressive development of 6 key competencies in students.

The Red Global was formed by members of ANEP (Education Authorities) and Ceibal Plan. The diversity of organizations involved demanded a shared vision, a trusted plan of action, a common identity and a collective responsibility among results. To surpass resistance for change and generate commitment inside the community; we needed to provide credibility, clarity and high standard of work as essential qualities of the group culture. A careful implementation plan was designed to establish the network, using technology and cross media communication as key role players.

To expand good practices and new knowledge we used CEIBAL´s LMS Platform CREA as well as videoconference technology. By doing it we empowered ¨leadership from the middle¨* focusing on the conversations and topics teachers were requesting. To multiply results we worked from practice to enrich practice, registering good examples and using them for professional development. Additionally we renewed in conjunction with educational authorities, the National Evaluation Platform SEA, developed for measuring learning outcomes and capacity (6C) development. This platform allows teachers to have data from where to make informed decisions on their next teaching strategy.

An innovative approach for capacity building helped teachers and authorities to think out of the box on educational change. This data driven plan allowed us to walk along teachers and make the project relevant and meaningful to their realities and requests. By systematizing our work, giving purpose and showing results, we served as the model of the change we wanted to see in schools. As a consequence schools started to do the work that we hope will one day become the system. Today the Red Global grows strong in 300 schools.

To generate traction for change, we created the ¨Deep Challenges¨ a strategy to make leverage change in schools embracing learners as agents of change transforming the historic legacy of what education looks like and taking that vision to the public eye. Inspired in the makers movement the concept is learn in order to design tangible solutions for real problems around the world, connecting creative groups globally (15 countries). Deep Challenges was invited as good practice to the Global Education Forum in Philadelphia, with Digital Promise co-writer of one of the challenges in 2015.

The impact of the Deep Challenges has been mentioned in several *Michael Fullan´s key notes around the world. Here an example of it´s impact in schools.
